Teachers

Alison Wright - Owner and Principal Teacher

Alison began dancing at the age of 3, she began assisting with classes from the age 8 and loved it so much, she decided that she wanted to become a teacher herself.

Whilst completing a BA (Hons) with QTS degree at Liverpool John Moores University (specialising in English & Drama) to become a Primary School teacher, Alison trained at The Maureen Jeffery School of Dance in Southport on a dance and teacher training course. Here she completed Associate level 'Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing' examinations (ISTD) in Tap, National, Modern Theatre and Jazz and she also completed her Advanced ISTD dance qualifications.

She has since gone on to complete her CDE (Certificate in Dance Education) qualification with the ISTD in London.

Alison is a cheerleading coach with the NCSSE and the British Cheerleading Association & has completed qualifications in cheer ethics, principals, stunts & tumbling.

Alison is also a full member of the IDTA Theatre Branch. (Ballet, tap, modern jazz, theatre craft & musical theatre) Alison also holds the IDTA cheerleading coach qualification & the stunting diploma.

Alison is now a registered Melody Bear® Pre School dance teacher and as well as running three of her own Pre School classes, Alison teaches dance in Pre Schools and Children's Centres in Merseyside and Lancashire. Alison is also a certified Acrobatic Dance teacher & completed the module 2 with AcrobaticArts.

Alison has over 20 years experience as a teacher, which includes all aspects of dance and drama.

Alison is a registered chaperone with Lancashire County Council, she loves accompanying the Performance Team at various events throughout the year. Alison loves being a teacher, passing on her passion to the next generation. She likes giving all the students lots of different opportunities. As well as exam & theatre opportunities, she likes to support charities, schools & churches too. Long may we continue in our community!!



Anna Brown - Teacher

Anna's passion for dancing began at the age of 2 where she started dance lessons at Chris Wright's School of Contemporary Dance. (Now Dance and Drama) She then went on to assist in the classes alongside her mum and eventually trained part time at the Maureen Jeffery School of Dance obtaining her teaching qualifications with the ISTD.

Anna also studied in Newcastle, gaining a degree in Psychology and was lucky enough to be chosen out of over 3000 hopefuls to become a member of National Youth Theatre Great Britain. She spent some time in London working with the company on their technical course gaining practical training and experience in the technical approach to theatre production.

Anna is now a teacher at Chris Wright's school of Dance and Drama which she really loves. Anna teaches drama & enters pupils for LAMDA examinations, she produces plays & drama pieces for the theatre as well as working with the performance team, choreographing routines that are showcased all over the country.

Anna is very happy to be working alongside such talented staff and a lovely bunch of children.

In addition to this, Anna is a qualified Children's nurse and Health Visitor, and she hopes eventually to promote dance as a therapy for children who may struggle in terms of health and spend a lot of their childhood in hospital. She hopes to use dance to inspire children and keep them smiling.



Olivia Miller - Teacher

Olivia started Chris Wrights school of dance and drama over 12 years ago and attended many different classes such as Modern theatre, cheerleading, street dance and national. This is where her passion and love for dance started.

Throughout the years, Olivia has taken many exams with the ISTD and is now training at North Liverpool Dance Academy on her ISTD teaching qualifications.

Olivia has grown up through the school and became a volunteer assistant when she was 15. Olivia became a senior assistant in September 2020, she began to work alongside Miss Alison and has loved all the roles and responsibilities that come with this position.

Olivia is part of the teaching team and this is something she is really passionate about and loves seeing all the children progress.

Olivia is a registered chaperone with Sefton council and chaperones at all the dance and drama events.



Emily Keen - Teacher

Emily has danced for over 17 years at Chris Wrights School of Dance and Drama, since she was 4 1/2 starting with just modern theatre and increasing her skills to ballet, tap & street dance as she became older. Building up her skills she has studied the ISTD and IDTA syllabus working all the way up to Advanced 1 where she is still learning new skills all the time.

Emily started assisting Miss Alison at the age of 10 with the little ones, helping out and then ended up loving it so much, she wanted to carry on & teach & inspire the next generation herself. Emily is part of the teaching team for the performance team & street dance.

Alongside dance, Emily is a keen gymnast & in 2019 she completed her Level 1 in general gymnastics coaching with British Gymnastics and has coached this for over 10 years.

Emily is part of the Acrobatic Dance teaching team at Chris Wright's and loves every minute of it.

Emily loves dancing herself every week and in particular teaching so many talented and enthusiastic children alongside her own classes.



Sarah Norris (teacher)

Sarah is passionate about dancing & has been dancing since a young age. As well as attending teacher training college where she completed her advanced dance qualifications & teacher qualifications with the ISTD & IDTA, Sarah's professional dance credits include performances on stage, TV, film, music videos, cruise ships, fashion shows and musicals.

Sarah has also produced, directed and choreographed numerous productions in both the UK, Europe and North Africa and even has a few choreography awards under her belt.

Search is an experienced teacher & has taught as a BTEC Course Leader in Dance at a full time college, teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary & Commercial.

Sarah has also delivered teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Freestyle & was head of Modern and Ballet teaching full time dance and drama students.

Sarah is thoroughly enjoying teaching the senior Modern Theatre, Ballet & pointe at Chris Wright's School of Dance and Drama & enjoyed choreographing dances for the show. She is loving forward to many more happy years ahead teaching the students at Chris Wright's.
